Italy attempting to lure Santiago Castro from Argentina

Italy are now trying to lure Santiago Castro from Argentina in an attempt to make sure he plays for the Azzurri.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Castro has obtained an Italian passport some days ago and Luciano Spalletti is keeping a close eye on the striker, who has impressed for Bologna this season.

While Lionel Scaloni has included him for Argentina’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers later this month, the outlet relay information from TYC, stating Spalletti is trying to lure him to play for Italy.

Castro has previously expressed his dream of playing for Argentina but that isn’t stopping Italy from making attempts. Something similar has happened with Matteo Retegui in the past. While the case of the Bologna star seems a difficult one since Argentina have already called him up, but attempts will be made.

The 20-year-old has seven Serie A goals and five assists under Vincenzo Italiano this season.
