Claudio Ranieri sings Matias Souleโ€™s praises after youngsterโ€™s goal sees off Inter

Roma might have just played a massive role in taking the Serie A title to Naples as their 1-0 defeat of Inter put Napoli in the driverโ€™s seat for the Scudetto. The hosts fell to their third straight defeat as Matias Soule found the back of the net in the first half.

Soule came through the Juventus youth system amidst considerable hype but it was at Frosinone last season that the world took notice of him as he contributed to 14 Serie A goals. Juve decided to sell him and other youth products like Dean Huijsen to make a profit but it has come to hurt them as both these players have been playing very well. Souleโ€™s start to the season was average but he has now shown his quality in a right wing-back role for Ranieri.

The Italian gaffer was full of praise for the player while speaking to TMW, โ€œHeโ€™s (Soule) understood what I always asked him. Everyone has to know that something important has to happen when he has the ball. He has to be practical and quick to think. I always tell him โ€˜if you point at a man, do it quicklyโ€™. Now heโ€™s starting to understand. Heโ€™s a player who never knows what he can do. Heโ€™s understanding that this is Serie A. He has to continue to believe that he can improve what he already has thatโ€™s good. Which is a lot. Heโ€™s a very fine piece of stuffโ€. Since the former Leicester City boss has taken over Roma mid-season, they have now managed to make Champions League qualification a real possibility.
