Serie A giants Roma have sacked manager Ivan Juric and club CEO Florent Ghisolfi was recently asked about rumours linking the club with a move for Roberto Mancini.
The Italian was recently sacked by Saudi Arabia and this came after he had left Italy. He is amongst the names linked with the Roma job, along with Claudio Ranieri, Paulo Sousa and even Frank Lampard.
Juric has now been sacked – as confirmed by Roma and they have revealed that a new boss will be hired in the next few days.
Ghisolfi spoke to the press after the sacking (as relayed by Gazzetta) and he was asked about Mancini: “We thank mister Juric who arrived in a difficult situation, he gave his best from day one. Mancini? Now is the time to reflect and regain calm to make the right choice in the interest of the club.”
He also spoke about Juric further, stating that his style of play never really made an impact in the hearts of the current squad.
“Ivan has a very demanding type of football from an athletic point of view, but now is not the time for excuses. The moment is complicated and we too must take our responsibilities. We apologize to the fans who are suffering a lot. We are all responsible for this situation.”
He went on to state that it is difficult to understand who the next manager will be but the appointment will be in line with vision of the Friedkins. Protests have been taking place against the Americans and the next appointment could be vital.
